Job Description
Job Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic professional to lead our disaster management business as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) and Senior Manager. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of disaster management, with the ability to manage ongoing projects, expand the business into new states, and ensure the quality delivery of all projects. This role demands strategic vision, operational expertise, and leadership to strengthen our disaster management portfolio and drive sustainable growth.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership:
1. Lead and manage the disaster management business, ensuring its alignment with organizational goals and objectives.
2. Develop and implement strategies for business expansion into new states and regions.
3. Build partnerships with government agencies, NGOs, corporate clients, and other stakeholders to create new opportunities.
Operational Management:
1. Oversee day-to-day operations of ongoing disaster management projects, ensuring timelines, budgets, and deliverables are met.
2. Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams for effective project execution and resource allocation.
3. Monitor project performance and resolve operational challenges proactively.
Business Development:
1. Identify, pursue, and secure new opportunities for disaster management projects through proposals, tenders, and networking.
2. Prepare and present business cases, proposals, and strategic reports to stakeholders.
3. Collaborate with marketing and communication teams to enhance visibility and promote disaster management solutions.
Quality Assurance:
1. Establish and implement quality standards for all disaster management projects and operations.
2. Conduct periodic project reviews, audits, and evaluations to ensure excellence in service delivery.
3. Provide technical guidance and ensure compliance with national and international disaster management frameworks, policies, and protocols.
Team Development and Training:
1. Build, mentor, and manage a high-performing team of disaster management professionals.
2. Organize training sessions to keep the team updated with the latest developments, tools, and techniques in disaster management.
Risk Assessment and Innovation:
1. Develop innovative and practical solutions for disaster preparedness, mitigation, and response.
2. Conduct risk assessments and implement strategies to minimize the impact of disasters on clients and communities.
Job Requirement
Educational Background:
· Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Disaster Management or a related field.
· Certifications in disaster risk reduction, emergency management, or business continuity (e.g., FEMA, UNDRR, or equivalent) are highly desirable.
Experience:
· Minimum 8-10 years of experience in disaster management or a related field, with at least 5 years in a managerial role.
· Proven track record of managing large-scale disaster management projects and business development.
Technical and Professional Skills:
· Expertise in disaster preparedness, mitigation, response, and recovery processes.
· Strong understanding of national and international disaster management frameworks (e.g., Sendai Framework, SDGs).
· Excellent project management skills with a focus on quality, budgets, and timelines.
· Ability to write compelling proposals and develop strategic plans.
· Proficiency in using disaster management tools, GIS, and risk assessment software.
Soft Skills:
· Exceptional leadership and team-building abilities.
· Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
· Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
